Stressed Out Holidays With ADHD? Take a Break! Top Benefits for ADHD.
During the holiday time, stress can go up! When someone has ADHD and has to deal with holiday stress, what can they do? There are visits with family and friends, shopping, decorations, and more! On top of the extra stress problem, there are issues with executive function skills, such as organization and time management. What are things you can do to survive the holidays with ADHD? One suggestion is to find some way to relax! Easier said than done, but I am a believer in mindfulness and meditation. Overall, just taking a break can be just the thing to decrease stress! With all of the constant movement and rushing here to there, it is a necessity! Many are essential if you include all of the holiday months. It can be something as simple as taking a walk, seeing a movie, getting a massage, or anything else that is relaxing. A break has another advantage too! There is time to slow down and think things over. With ADHD comes impulsivity, and that can lead to overspending! There may be the coolest item on sale that seems like something that is just what is needed to make the next few days complete. It is exciting and new! Buy it now! When there is time to think through instead of following through with an impulsive action, the result may be to stop purchasing. There may be a realization that it was awesome for a moment, but the item is not needed. Whether you have ADHD or not, a break may be the solution to some holiday challenges.
